Safety Programs

PPC's Safety Advisory Board is part of the Human Resources Committee. Its purpose is to promote safe work environments in folding carton plants through a pro-active approach to safety.

PPC supports the program through data collection, Safety Program Awards, and Safety Roundtables. The Boxscore program is a monthly compilation of safety data from participating plants. The Boxscore allows participants to compare their safety performance with other folding carton plants of similar size. We give special recognition to plants that reach safety milestones based upon hours worked without an OSHA recordable incident.

The Safety Program Awards are given annually to recognize member plants that have demonstrated a pro-active approach to safety through projects and programs. Eligibility for entry requires one full calendar year of participation in PPC's Boxscore Safety Program, and submission of an essay detailing programs. The essays are compiled and distributed in an annual awards booklet.

PPC holds two Safety Roundtables a year that facilitate in-depth discussions on current safety issues. Some topics covered in the past are:

  • Developments in Ergonomics
  • "Achieving World Class Safety Excellence"
  • American Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Status of OSHA Reforms
  • Risk Management
  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

PPC has also produced an employee-orientation video called "Safety in a Folding Carton Plant." For additional information on PPC's Safety Programs, e-mail Mike Smith.
